To allow youth the opportunity to come together with U1S staff and mentors and participate in strength based activities and teachings that focus on their readiness to move forward on a path to independence.
THE ROP PROCESS This program is also included as an option with the Journey Experience and is designed for youth ages 15-17 who are in foster care and who are ready for a more in-depth experience.
This program has individualized goals, specific to the young person, to help prepare them for their future. It can also be offered as a stand -alone program. Youth meet over the course of four weekends on a beautiful site in Western North Carolina.
The focus is on developing self-awareness, building social and emotional skills of relating in a healthy way with others, and learning practical skills for living.
There is also the opportunity for each young person to explore options that they have for life after high school as they transition to adulthood.
The ROP process will help teach:
An ability to identify personal strengths and fears
Listening skills
Speaking skills through discussion of individual’s own life stories
